Spring Melt

in the Canadian Taiga

Springtime in the southern Taiga, or Boreal region of the Northwest Territories brings progressively longer, warmer days, melting the thick winter ice caps of lakes and rivers throughout the region.

Here is a glimpse of the spring freshet along the Ingraham Trail, from Yellowknife, to the start of the famous diamond mine ice road.
